Program note

Pour sa première expérience d'écriture pour la scène, Kaija Saariaho réalise une musique pour bande constituée de trois interludes. Elle accompagne une création du jeune écrivain suédophone Joakim Groot au Lilla Teatern de Helsinki. Le thème en est l'assassinat, au début du XXe siècle, du général Bobrikov, gouverneur de Finlande — alors province autonome de Russie — par un jeune Fennomane, Eugene Schaumann, devenu héros-martyr national.
