Larisa Vrhunc, born in Ljubljana in 1967, studied composition at the Ljubljana Music Academy with Marijan Gabrijelcic, then at the Geneva Conservatory with Jean Balissat, and privately with Eric Gaudibert. She was then invited to study with Gilbert Amy at the Lyon Conservatory (CNSML). She participated in Voix Nouvelles at Royaumont, where she studied with Brian Ferneyhough and Michael Jarrell in 1995, and Klaus Huber in 1996. Her works have been awarded several prizes in Slovenia, and she was the recipient of the Fondation Royaumont Prize in the Amiens Cathedral Competition.
