Program note

Words tend to disappear before our very ears in favour of their meaning. The word word has a special position in the language, because it also points back to it self, forms a kind of closed circle and therefore manages to be concrete meaning as a word as well as absolute - not-to-something-else-referring. It means itself. The text in the piece consists of the word word in Islamic, German, Romanian, Arabic dialect and Koran Arabic: orð, wort, vorbă, kilma, kilmeh. These are repeated again and again as a mantra or a substream exposed to different degrees of distortion and infiltrated by sounds and phonemes without meaning. The piece is among other things the struggle of these five words to mount to the surface - to become meaning.
