De dimension moins ambitieuse que la pièce précédente du cycle, le Klavierstück VII reprend néanmoins à sa façon certains des traits d'écriture pianistique inaugurés avec le Klavierstück VI. Le jeu des harmoniques et des résonances apparaît toujours particulièrement différencié.
