Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjærg studied instrumental and electronic composition with Ib Nørholm and Ivar Frounberg at the Royal Danish Academy of Music (1986-1991), and with Jan W. Morthenson in Stockholm. He subsequently studied computer-aided composition at the Sonology Institute at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (1991-1993), and participated in the IRCAM Cursus (IRCAM’s composition and computer music course), receiving instruction from Tristan Murail and Brian Ferneyhough. He went on to undertake a research residency and teach at IRCAM.

Hans Peter Stubbe is especially interested in the physical/acoustic nature of instruments, and in the phenomenology of natural sounds. He has become a specialist in the fields of computer-aided composition, synthesis, and spatialisation. He is also active in the interpretation and diffusion of electronic music, and in these capacities, collaborates regularly with artists working in other media. His catalogue includes vocal and instrumental works, mixed music, and fixed-media pieces, as well as music for theatre, audiovisual installations, and video art. His music is widely performed in Europe and has been recorded by DaCapo, Media Artes, and Kontrapunkt.

In 1990, Hans Peter Stubbe co-founded the ATHELAS Sinfonietta in Copenhagen. In 1996, the Danish Arts Council awarded him a three-year grant. He has taught electro-acoustic composition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music since 2001. He has participated in numerous international projects for the development of sound synthesis tools. In 2008-2009, he undertook a research residency at IRCAM, and from 2009 to 2011, he was composer-in-residence with the Århus Symphony Orchestra (Denmark), during which he composed two works for orchestra.
