Genoël von Lilienstern studied composition with Younghi Pagh-Paan in Bremen and Hanspeter Kyburz in Berlin. He also studied electronic music at The Hague, and took part in the Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt. He has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Hanns-Eisler Prize, the Gargonza Prize, a stipend to attend the Darmstadt Summer Course, and the ring.award.off for his robotic opera, Rigolator. He has also received grants from the Berlin Academy of the Arts and, more recently, from the UdK Einstein Fondation for the creation of a futuristic sonic environment. In 2013, he was a resident at the Cité des Arts in Paris. In addition to his work as a composer, he has developed a series of musical algorithms titled “dubstep.” Genoël von Lilienstern currently lives in Berlin.
