Bernat Vivancos was born in Barcelone in 1973. Learning the rudiments of music with his father, he went on to study piano, violin and organ at the Escolania de Montserrat with Father Ireneu Segarra. He pursued further study of piano with Maria Canals and Raquel Millàs at the Ars Nova Music School in Barcelona, graduating with an advanced degree. He has performed widely and received numerous international prizes, as well as recording works for broadcast on radio and television. In addition to his activities as a pianist, he also studied violin with Eva Graubin and plays in several orchestras. In 1997, he was named as organist at the Sanctuary of Notre Dame in Barcelona and Kapellmeister at the Manresa Cathedral. With a passion for new music, he first studied composition with David Padros and music theory and counterpoint with Xavier Bollart, before, with support from the Catalan government, undertaking further studies of composition with Guy Reibel at the Paris Conservatoire.
