Victor Ibarra a étudié la flûte à l'Université Nationale de Mexico et l'analyse avec Humberto Hernandez, puis la composition sous la direction de José Luis Castillo. Dans ses œuvres récentes, il s'efforce d'établir des rapports entre la musique et la peinture. He studied the license in flute in the National School of Music at the National University of Mexico with Rubén Islas; also he studied composition with José Luis Castillo. Later he studied in Paris with Edith Lejet.
