Peter Gilbert

Peter Gilbert a bénéficié des conseils de différents professeurs : Julian Anderson, Margaret Brouwer, Mario Davidovsky, Lee Hyla, Bernard Rands, Hans Tutschku, David Vayo et, plus récemment, Helmut Lachenmann. Sa musique a été jouée dans divers concerts et festivals à travers l'Europe et les Etats-Unis (du Kennedy Center au Rock and Roll Hall) et par plusieurs interprètes, du Quatuor Arditti à Bang on a Can All-Stars. Ricochet, son œuvre pour guitare et électroniques, a été enregistrée par Daniel Lippel. Il est actuellement en doctorat à l'Université de Harvard et co-directeur du programme Jeunes Compositeurs au Cleveland Institute of Music. Peter Gilbert's music has been heard in concerts and festivals across the United States and in Europe in venues ranging from the Kennedy Center to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, played by groups ranging from the Arditti String Quartet to the Bang on a Can All-Stars. New Focus has also released the CD "Sustenance" which features music by Gilbert connecting the six pieces on the CD to one another. The Third Practice Festival, which commissioned Gilbert's Blow, Bugle, Blow in 2003, released a CD on Centaur Records including Gilbert's piece Rituals.
