Note de programme

In Fibrillian, the instrumental textures become sonic fibres carefully chiselled that can be associated, in some way, to the heart muscle fibres. I tried a cohabitation of different emotional/energetical states, polyphonically intertwined, that makes us to experience every moment intensely, a live heartbeat. Thus, the electric propulsion of an sforzato stridente upon harmonical natural position contrasts with the anguishing retention of an écrasé on the lower notes of the register. And the lovely lightness of the harmonics glissandos sul ponticello contrasts with the warm and friendly feeling produced by a melodic motive sul tasto.

In this work I seek to stimulate or produce in the listener a maximum of feelings and sensations - the urgency we feel before the unattainable, the tenderness blooming at the perceptual threshold, the ephemeral plenitude, the unsustainable frenzy ... These sensations are forging a dramatically and cyclical tragic form, that will find the resolution of the progressive friction in the most absolute clash: the abrupt and dark écrasés that destroy any possibility of future against the utopian, weak and desperate tremolos of acute harmonics. Interwoven over almost all the work we find a unique song, broken, struggling to maintain the individuality of life.

In this sonic and musical adventure, polyphony is understood as interweaving in time not only melodic lines but also developed materials - bundles of fibres which have characteristic timbre features that also evolve over time. This structured design contrives to produce greater sound expressiveness, plasticity and fusion. I think it opens a way to bypass or overcome the deeply entrenched dichotomy between new music in which timber and gesture are prevalent and the more rhythmic-intervallic music.
